The following are some locations throughout California where you can enroll in a program to obtain a certificate for interpreting and/or translating. It is by no means a complete list of interpreter programs in California.

Being placed on one of the lists below "will increase your marketability" and assist users of language services everywhere. Depending on the assignment, priority is usually given to legal and medical interpreters and translators on one of these lists.

Judicial Council of California (CIP)
The Court Interpreters Program strives to ensure access to the courts for persons with limited English proficiency or those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
Federal Court Interpreter Certification
The use of competent federal court interpreters in proceedings involving speakers of languages other than English is critical to ensure that justice is carried out fairly for defendants and other stakeholders.
The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)
The mission of the National Board is to foster improved healthcare outcomes, patient safety, and patient/provider communication.
The American Translators Association (ATA)
The certification program allows translators to demonstrate that they meet certain standards of the translation profession.
Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters
A certification program for healthcare interpreters that assesses their competence and to help ensure quality of interpreting in any healthcare setting and in any modality of interpreting.
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
RID plays a leading role in establishing a national standard of quality for interpreters.
